Mission Statement of Benedictine Sisters
We, the Benedictine Sisters of Mt. Angel, are women responding to the call to live community according to the Gospel and the Rule of St. Benedict. Together, we seek God in a balanced life of prayer and work, simplicity, hospitality, and service. While our vow of stability leads us to special care of the people in our local area, we are deeply conscious of sharing the universal mission of the Church.
Monastic Life & Ministries at Queen of Angels
Benedictine Sisters try to live a balanced life and devote themselves to prayer, community life, and ministry to others. Sisters take three vows at the time of profession: obedience; fidelity to the monastic way of life; and stability. Life at Queen of Angels Monastery has a distinct rhythm, marked by the gathering of the community for prayer several times each day.
The Sisters are committed to living simply and sharing their gifts and resources. As a community, and as individuals, they work to extend the healing presence of Christ to others through hospitality, stewardship and service. The Sisters' primary ministries are serving the poor and the homeless at St. Joseph Shelter, and offering spiritual sustenance and renewal through Shalom Prayer Center. They also teach, nurse, counsel, cook, serve as spiritual directors and chaplains and work as artisans and gardeners.
